Founded by Joe and Becky Nussbaum, ACP began in a single-wide trailer house in 1986, and the kitchen table of the trailer house became the world headquarters of ACP International. It would be stating the obvious to say we began small. We worked side-by-side, mainly because there wasn’t room to work back-to-back. We manufactured our first fiber splice sleeves in that trailer house, and we were able to do it successfully. Because our costs were low, we were able to do better than break-even our first year. Year after year, we invested our company profits back into the business, adding product lines and equipment.
In 1988, we leased our first manufacturing plant. Plus, we did something that really put us on the path for greater success. We hired our first employees. Roman Vega, who is now our production manager, was one of the very first employees. Now, we have more than 50, many of whom have worked with us for more than 20 years. We believe that long-term people are one of our keys to success, and we’re proud that so far we’ve had 6 employees finish their careers with ACP and retire. We have been very fortunate to have great quality people, making everything easier!
In 1992, we acquired our first building. In 2007, we moved to our present 72,000 square foot facility. As we have grown, we have enhanced our equipment and processes, which have in turn improved our capabilities and capacity. Our manufacturing processes include graphic art production, screen printing, digital printing, metal and plastic fabrication, solar and electronic assembly, laminating, die cutting, warehousing and assembly.
Additionally, we’ve grown by acquisition. In 2002, we acquired VIP, a tag and label manufacturer in Houston, and in 2003, a portion of Porter Graphics of New Braunfels. In 2009, we purchased SA-SO signs & safety, a traffic, safety, and facility company. In 2014, our long time friend, Bob Winer decided to retire and approached us about purchasing his company, ECOP, a cable identification company. Our latest acquisition in 2015 was the security sign business unit of Englander. As a result of this purchase, we are now able to provide sign and assembly services to security and alarm companies across the country.
We operate ACP and SA-SO under one roof at our facility in Arlington (Dallas-Fort Worth area), Texas. We are a small business and proud to employ local talent and make products in the United States. How can we help you identify your network with ACP International?
